    Mark Pettit is up-and-coming Writer/Director who strives to reveal the  crevaces of humanity with each of his films.
 

Mark Pettit has one objective: to create stories that captivate and transport audiences to heightened realities and surreal experiences. Mark is an emerging filmmaker known for his various works as a Writer, Director and Producer. He is currently in his third and final year in the Film and Television Production Program at Humber College, where he is constantly honing his craft and developing his abilities as a storyteller. Mark realized his passion for storytelling while directing his first short film, a horror film titled Writer’s Block during the summer of 2012. One of Mark’s most personal projects is a short documentary he produced about his mother, a woman with Multiple Sclerosis, titled Lighter Than Air. During the ealry months of 2013, Mark directed Reign, a dramatic short film that deals with bullying, the danger of inaction and gun violence in the school system. The film was accepted into Commffest International Film Festival and was nominated for an award for 'Films Promoting Debate and Discussion'.

 

Currently Mark is in post-production on two short non-fiction films, which he directed, one titled Heartistry and the other, The Fire; which is based on his originaly screenplay. He is also in the process of editing a Fallsview-styled Casino commercial he wrote.

 

Mark has wanted to be a writer since high school but narrowed his focus to writing for films after he graduated. Currently Mark is writing a feature film and hopes to one day gain the support needed to shoot and direct the script titled Ponderosa Place. Mark is committed to developing films that are hard-hitting, emotionally engaging and revolutionary in this constantly growing world of film and television. Playing it safe is not part of Mark’s repertoire, “If you are not afraid and uncomfortable with what you are doing, you shouldn’t be doing it.” His films aim to evoke the spectrum of emotions from the viewers, making them laugh, cry and question life, all in one sitting.

 

A gripping style, boundary-smashing mentality, and a passion for storytelling have resulted in numerous emotionally engaging films from this young director as he aims to stimulate the hearts and minds of audiences around the world.
